Ask Hot Dads

b mari asked:

Ok, so here it goes... There's this hot, single, dad, at work, that I was just kind of friends with, in fact, not even attracted to until one night. That one night I was a lil tipsy and flirt-texted him. Ha! He texted back. So....we set a date for a night (he was willing to travel nearly 2hrs to my place) --and what do you know? It was extremely amazing! --It was amazing from the moment he walked in and all the way to the bedroom. Anyway, afterward we talked about our upbringing, family, his daughter etc and it turns out we have a lot more in common than we thought. We fell asleep in each others arms and since then have seen each other 2 more times. He knows I would like to start a relationship, but he said he wasn't good relationship material. --The thing is that we always end up talking about our families and it makes me think otherwise.... About me, I'm about 6 yrs older than him, don't want any kids and don't have any (though I looove them), and he had a vasectomy (his daughter is 12).... --LOL....my question now is how much did you share about yourself to your "bootycalls?" Did you ever see yourself with any one them?

Is there even a remote chance with him? Should I just keep hoping? Or just let it go? p.s......I'm sooooo willing to drive to him... --Oh, and I know he more than likes me because one of his good friends gave me the "411" on him. --He says he just doesn't have time....

says: Well, I’ll start by saying that I never shared too much with any of my past ‘bootycalls’…cuz that was just what they were. We were just in it for the sex…nothing more.

Regarding your situation, I’d say that it is a tough one. I would ask you why you don’t want kids. That statement and the fact that he has a 12 year old daughter don’t mix too well. At that age, she’ll need a mother figure in her life.

Maybe he says that he is not good relationship material because he just wants to be single. I think that it is a discussion that you will have to have with him. Keep it (the feelings) out in the open…otherwise one of you will get hurt. It is easy for one side of a relationship to grow closer and the other remains …’bootycall’ status.

With a child in the situation it has to be all or nothing. You have to fully commit…so make sure you know what you want before discussing it with him.

Southern Sage says: Well it depends on what you want. If you want a relationship and he does not then you are fishin in the wrong pond it seems. Talk to him about it. Ask. If ain't in then know its only for sex. Go when you want him to hit it, get dressed and leave. His perfect scenario is for you to like him a lot and him to be disconnected. Then he can hit it whenever he wants and he can always say "hey I told you this was just about sex."

It would seem to me though that most relationships start with either or both parties not looking for a long term relationship. So it has to start somewhere. I might not usually start yelling "go big Daddy" but some do. So it can go from booty call to love and such.

Good luck.

Sounds to me like he's politely trying to tell you that he's interested in you for an occasional booty call/friends-with-benefits kind of thing. Maybe you're reading too much into the pillow talk? I know you said that his friend said otherwise, but his actions speak louder than his friends words, it seems like.

You say that he's a co-worker but also that he's 2 hrs away. Different offices within the same company? I wonder if the idea of a long-distance relationship isn't what he's looking for and all of this is a cover story.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

It's simple, though I'm afraid it's not the answer you want to hear...he doesn't want a relationship. The conversations could be great and he could make gestures that seem like it's moving towards a relationship, but he told you where he stands. You might be trying to tell yourself that he'll change his mind the more time you spend together and the more you open yourself up to him. But it's unlikely that this is the case. Don't read into him saying he's "not relationship material" or that he "doesn't have time" for a relationship as wishy-washy indicators that he might. Unfortunately, he doesn't.

The fact that he told you this near the beginning rather than hiding it and stringing you along shows his character, which probably makes this all the more difficult for you. It sounds like you're already pretty emotionally invested in him, so please be careful. The worst thing you can do here is to think that you're going to be able to change his mind.

I gotta say that I've been there before...I used to be "that guy" who didn't want a relationship but still loved certain aspects of a relationship.

I wish I could adequately explain why, but looking back I guess I was just immature...that whole "cake & eat it" thing.

This guy likes you...I don't think anybody will really argue that point. I mean, I can't imagine opening myself up too much at all to any of the one-night stands I had back in my 20's, but every once in awhile there was someone I wanted to be with more than just once that I ended up talking to more than others.

Here's the thing: if he's a bit younger and has already been "snipped", then he's really REALLY not looking for anything more at this point. So I guess if you're willing to be "that woman", then I'd say continue to do whatever makes you happy.

Something else may happen or it may not...just don't hold out hope that it will. Enjoy things for what they are and then let the universe guide you.

How Clean Should a Kids Room Be?

Well those of you that read me at Sageville know that I field and opine on all kinds of questions real regular. Most are relationship or political but often they are from one end of the spectrum to another. I answer the bulk simply by return mail but some I post about because I think other people might have input or gain insight from the post. All questions in mail are private unless I get consent to post it by whoever asked me and they can own it or not.

Well I got this simple question that I thought would be good fodder for a post so let me know what you think.

Before we get to the question I should state my stance on child rearing or training any person or animal. Consistency is the NUMBER ONE key to making this happen with man, child or beast. If an action gets the exact same reaction every time you can train anything. I am strict. I take no shit, ever. I believe it is my charge as a parent to do my damndest to train my children to respect rules and laws, be they of the government, household, school, religion or whatever. It is up to me to make their passage into adulthood easier by training them to know that if they do the right thing and do what they are supposed to do even when nobody is looking then they will do well and will be on the right side of the universe/gods/God/Mohammad/Budda/Yota or Darwin/Obama for you Democrats. I have said this before but if you missed it you can ask my kids and they will tell you what I mean when I ask them politely to do something, they will say "He means right now and for sure, he don't mean later and he damn sure don't mean maybe". And they are of course correct. They will also tell you "He ain't raisin no damn Democrats, we will be responsible for our actions and responsible for our belongings."

Responsibility is the key for the child and consistency is the key for the parent. A wise man said "repetition is the mother of consistency". So we must glean from that that if the the parent repeats the same actions (reward/punishment) then the child should consistently perform to expectation. And they will. So there that is my take now on to the question.

Here was the whole email. From a married woman (sexy of course, I only ever deal with sexy women) that has a few kids tween down in age.

how clean do you think a kids room should be?

I gave my answer and the follow up email said:

thanks. this is where I feel alone. I have no back up on this stuff. nobody to ask about this sort of stuff ... it is " my deal"

Two things to hit here.

#1. The room and how clean.

Here at the Sage's I demand expect my kids (11/6) to have their room straight. I do not expect it to be spic and span. I do expect the things to be in the proper location, board games in the hall closet, Wii games in the basket, clothes put away or in the hamper, toys in their designated location. Shoes in the closet or against the wall. Drawers shut. Orderly. Thats it. I don't expect them to sweep (all hardwood floors in the house) or clean the windows or dust or do any deep cleaning. Their momma does that whenever she feels it needed, with the child that owns the room.

To get this done I have them on a schedule. When they get home from school they do their chores. Then they do their homework, then they can play or whatever it is they do for fun. Then they eat supper. If you think for a second they won't eat if their room isn't clean you have misread me terribly. If you think that my daughter would miss the father daughter annual dance because she didn't do her chores, again you have misread me. Lastly if you think even for a second that I won't call off a non-refundable Disney trip because chores are not completed, you dear reader have absolutely mis read me. These things happen every single day of their life. They cried, threw down in the floor, vomited, peed on themselves, kicked, screamed, hollard, pooped the floor, and their heads spun around the first week or two. And I assure you "this isn't fair" was their favorite term to yell. But after that it became routine and they do it without a battle now.

So I am ok with one toy in the floor, or some things not in there exact proper place but in general the room being straight is enough for me.

#2. No back up.

This is huge for married/shacked up people in my opinion. I expect the bride to back me 100% in front of the kids. (Ok sometimes people call me out because I don't disclaim every damn statement I make because of exceptions, so here a go. If I am being abusive or demanding them to do something that might kill them or harm them physically or mentally or whatever then she, of course, should of course intercede on their behalf) Outside of that she should back me. She should also, outside of my presence back up my assertions and intercede on my behalf to the kids.

"Baby you know your daddy wants you to clean your room so why not do it before he gets home?"

"Baby you know your daddy only makes you clean up to make you a more responsible person so that when you grow up you will understand better how to run your life and that of YOUR family"

Etc.

And I of course back her 100%. If we disagree we discuss it outside of the presence of the kids and refine our strategy.

Ever heard of "divide and conquer?"
You think a 7 year old isn't smart enough to employ that tactic? If you don't think so then you don't and have never had one.

So dear reader what do you think? How clean should a kids room be? How often should it be clean? How do you get your kid to do it? Do tell.

it is my understanding that some of you fine people have missed out on the awesome giveaway!

Go see what the Real World has going on! I posted here today too I think!

Southern Sage I surely posted here today too, don't miss the great giveaway either!

Sage on Child Rearing, Shelle Asked I answered

Well over in Sageville I did a "Ask Me" post and here was a Question asked by Shelle that I thought I'd also post over here.

Shelle asked.........

Okay Sage... How do you feel about disrespectful kids and what advice would you give to those parents who have a disrespectful tween-teen and want to change them into a respectful kid-tween-teen?

Well I was asked way back about parenting and never posted on it and ain't gonna do that whole post here, also I won't do the how to train any animal including humans post that has been in the vast waste land that is my brain for a while now. Here is what I think about her question.

The one thing I will not allow or abide is my kids being disrespectful to anyone, ever, for any reason. This is especially true for adults. It will not occur without harsh, swift and painful consequences. Also I must admit I have an unhealthy bias against people who don't say Ma'am or Sir to their elders and ANY male who doesn't address females of most any age as Ma'am until their relationship (whatever that might be) has become familiar enough to drop that term of respect. If I was in a store and ANY female that is now reading this asked me a yes/no question I would end my answer with ma'am. EVERY TIME. Without fail. When I hear a kid address their parent with anything other than ma'am or sir I instantly hold a bias against the parent and pity the child for the poor parenting they have endured. (shut up I said it was unhealthy!)

Not even liberals make the hair on my neck stand up like it does when I see/hear a child of any age back talk their parent. There is NO excuse for that, ever. I swear I have scolded and come close to fixing up a kid that was wearing his momma out in a store one time. I just can't understand it. Why would someone allow that from their kids. I am a hard-ass though for sure, I don't deny that and I wouldn't change it if I could. I will not have disrespectful kids. I remind them often not about their grades, but about the conduct scores in school which have never been bad. My folks told me and I tell my kids, "even an idiot can keep their mouth shut in class."

So what advice do I have for people with kids that are disrespectful? This goes to the training. If you control any animals pleasure and pain you can control their actions. Any and all law/rule enforcement will work if three standards are met when doling out punishment. If punishment is harsh, guaranteed and as near to instant as possible you can control behavior. The hot stove theory. If your kid puts his hand on a stove glowing red hot more than a time or two, then your kid needs a padded room. Why is this? Because the pain is instant, harsh and guaranteed. EVERY TIME baby boy Burnedass puts his nose pickers on the red hot stove it burns the ever more hell out of him, right? Well there you go.

All rules and laws should be easy to understand and communicated fully. So the advice is this. Tell the child what is acceptable and what is not. When unacceptable behavior occurs then punish the child RIGHT NOW, 10 times worse than the indiscretion and do it EVERY TIME. It won't take long for the child to understand that you mean what you say. Of course if you start your kid at 2 years old understanding respect then you have no problem when they are tween/teen except a couple times a year you have to redraw the line.

Now on punishment. I am not against tearing up ass as part of the punishment. But that in itself is not nearly painful enough. Painful is not getting to go to the dance, or not being able to play the tv games for 3 months (harsh be harsh) or whatever will hurt them the most. You have to do it every time. Now my kids might end up being window lickers but I feel pretty certain that they will show respect even if they don't feel it, they will fake it.

Talk back isn't even an option. We do have an appeal process, but it is never to back talk or to not complete a task when you have been instructed to do so. They can appeal, without crying or yelling, AFTER the task is complete. I can assure you my kids would answer this if you were to ask them........ When you are asked to do something what and when does your daddy mean? They would both say " He means right now and for sure, he does not mean later and he does not mean maybe"

Well there ya go. That simple advice on punishment will work for 99% of kids from 2 to 18 IF you follow it, it MUST be EVERY TIME though.

Thanks for the Question, ask and I will surely answer. Good Political post HERE where Hubman asked an excellent question I did my best with, if you wanna, with additional good questions on it. I'll take em all and be tickled to give you my take on whatever you want my take on!

Ask Hot Dads

This week our resident know-it-all Hot Mama Shelle sent in a few questions...and I think that they are enough to fill your minds with what we, Hot Dads, know to be the truth.

Shelle asks:

How do guys tell a girl that is skanky from a girl that isn't? May sound like a weird question but every time I have gone out with co-workers it seems like the guys KNOW which girls are going to be a little...more...how do you say...easy? Not that there is anything wrong with that, was just wondering how guys KNOW... ya know, kinda boggles my mind.

TentCamper says: A magician never tells...and yes...we Hot Dads do possess a certain level of magic within our loins. Above and beyond that, there is a lot to be said for opposites. By this I mean; when it comes to the way a woman dresses...the more she shows...the less she'll 'hide'.

Seriously though...It is pretty easy to see how a woman wants to be treated...and if you see a woman who wants to be come on to...you just need to do that without doubt...having the confidence is half the battle. (so I've been told.)

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Can just tell by the way they carry themselves.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
It's a combination of things. How a woman dresses is a major part of it, but how she carries herself is the main way. Flirting...walking with swagger...subtle physical mannerisms...they all combine to make up the perception that a woman is "skanky".

Dadshouse says: The skanky women usually don't talk to me - they think I'm too clean cut! They typically want a "bad boy".

Southern Sage says: I am assuming Skanky=easy for the purpose of this question.
I don't know that I can tell who is easy or not. All chicks are easy for me though so I might not be the one who should answer this, maybe the rest of the guys will answer better. I can always tell if a chick wants me though. They look at me, and/or speak to me. Well that is all chicks that get turned on by tall, bald, poor, snuff dippin, truck drivin, deer killin rednecks who are 40 pounds overweight, yeah thats how I roll.

Hubman says: Skanky is kinda like obscene, I know it when I see it. But don't ask me to define it, other than she's dirty and not in a good way. One thing that does cry out "skanky" to me is a chick with lots of tattoos. And I'm not talking about a few tasteful tats here or there, that's cool. Oh yeah, cokeheads and heroin junkies are automatically skanky.

I don't equal skanky with easy. I've known a few easy chicks [hell, I'm married to one!], but I wouldn't call any of them skanky. But maybe they were just easy for me, since I'm so damn irresistable ;-)

Daddy Geek Boy says: Us guys have spent years trying to separate the wheat from the chaff and learn with which girls we might have a greater chance of seeing under a few layers of clothing. So there's a kind of an innate "skank detection" within all of us. (Not that knowing who was skanky and who wasn't did me any good, by the way.)

As dads that have daughters. Why is it okay to look at a hot girl online whose sole purpose is to turn you on, them being someone else's daughter, but you have a hard time letting your daughters wear what they want? Kind of a bit two sided no?

TentCamper says: SHUT UP!!!!!! I am know in the house as the guy that will, without hesitation, throw clothing into the trash if I think that it is too revealing. I am sickened by the way teen girls dress these days and do my best to show my disgust while in my teen's presence.

On the other hand, If there is a woman (consenting adult) who is wearing 'check out my tits or ass' clothing...if she looks good...why not look. I can say that married or not, I would never approach or be interested in talking to someone dressed like that because it tells me too much about their insecure and 'skanky' personality.

Yes...they are someone elses daughter...but that adult and their parents did not do a very good job at being secure with one's self and having concern about reputation and how you are perceived.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Let's just say, having a daughter doesn't help that one bit.

CanadianBaldGuy says:

Not at all. I don't even see the comparison as valid.

How I raise my soon-to-be-teenager is my own choice (and the choice of her mother's). To me, there needs to be an "appropriate age cut-off" when it comes to dressing a certain way (16? 17?), but that depends on the situation and how the daughter is being raised (it's a discussion topic for parent and child). And in terms of "someone else's daughter", let it be known that I have no desire to look at a "hot girl online" if she looks like a little girl or a young teenager trying to be older than she is (ex: Miley Cyrus). I find that a little creepy, actually. So the question doesn't really make sense if comparing apples to apples.

However, if a 19-year-old decides to get naked online, that's her decision and her choice; she's an adult. I mean, every woman is someone's daughter. Hell...my girlfriend is someone's daughter, but that doesn't enter my mind when we're in the bedroom.

Dadshouse says: I don't look at hot girls online. Women? Sure. But not girls. I didn't like the Miley Cyrus nude in bed pics when they came out. No double standard here.

Southern Sage says: Well I of course wouldn't want anyone looking at my kid for the purpose of being turned on but one of the downfalls (for some) of marrying beautiful people is that your kids might look like them! With that comes attraction. So I reckon I could wish my daughter would grow up to be 3 foot 8 inches and 673 pounds and few would gaze lustfully upon her. I only look at women who I assume consented to the pics and them being posted or sent discreetly to my inbox so no I am not bothered by it.

Hubman says: The question is mixing kids and adults. Keep in mind that my daughter is only 3, but when she's a teen, damn right I'll have issues with a guy checking her out. But once she's older and out of my house, how she chooses to dress and draw attention to her looks, or not, is up to her. Every chick is someone's daughter, right?

I've joked with Veronica that when DB comes home and confides that he got his first blowjob, I'm gonna give him a high-five and ask if she swallowed, like a good girl should. PP comes home and says she gave her first blowjob? Off to the convent for her!!

Daddy Geek Boy says: You have your answer right there. We KNOW how other guys look at women! Those women on line may be somebody else's daughter, but we don't know them or their fathers. But I'm not about to let my daughter become food for the hungry wolves. Girls have no idea what evil lurks in the hearts of men. Call it what you will, but I think it's as valid a parenting technique as putting a child lock on the cabinet where we keep the bleach.

Ask Hot Dads

OneZenMom Asked:

Did you dress up for Halloween this year? (what were you?)

TentCamper says: Yes. I was a ‘Black Ops’ agent…same costume for 3 years and running. I always say…”If it ain’t broke…don’t fix it.”

Dadshouse says: I went as a Hot Dad.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: No

Daddy Geek Boy says: Sadly this.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
I dressed up as a proud father of a 3-year-old Power Ranger.

Hubman says: I'm not that big into Halloween. To placate the kiddos, I have an orange t-shirt that says "This is my costume" in black letters that Veronica bought me a few years ago.

Captain Dumbass syas: I was an unemployed stay at home dad. Sadly, a few days later I got a seasonal minimum wage job and I don't get to stay at home building Lego with the kids any more.

Southern Sage says: No but I did see a freak show.

Trooper Thorn says:
I tried to dress up as Buttercup from “The Princess Bride” but people kept asking if I was Princess Leia, so I just took it off.

What's your favorite thing about Christmas? Least favorite thing?

TentCamper says: My favorite thing about Christmas is seeing the kids excitement while opening their gifts. (and getting tools or fishing shit to add to my collection of unused stuff)

Dadshouse says: Favorite: lights on the xmas tree!
Least Favorite: spending 1/2 my xmas's without my kids.

Daddy Geek Boy says: I love the lights, the songs, the trees, the Rankin/Bass specials on TV. However I'm Jewish, so Christmas always comes with the sense of feeling a bit like an outsider. And dammit I hate looking for parking at the mall around this time.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Shopping. least favorite, that the commercials have started already.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
I love remade cheesy Christmas tunes. C'mon...how can you NOT love Bryan Adams singing, "Reggae Christmas"?? Least favorite? Not having enough money to buy the things I want to buy for my family. "It's the thought that counts?" Yeah...try telling that to an 11-year-old.

Hubman says: I love watching the kids opening their presents, the big smiles on their faces, and then spending the rest of the day lounging around the house with the family. We DO NOT travel for Christmas. My least favorite thing is Christmas creep. Last week I was in Sears when I stopped and realized that I was hearing Christmas music. It was November 4th, dammit!

Captain Dumbass The build up. I love the whole atmosphere of mid-November to Christmas Eve. Least favourite? Christmas Day. Aside from watching the kids, it's a let down.

Southern Sage says: Fave: It's during hunting season.
Least Fave: its cold.

Trooper Thorn says:

Favorite thing: Food

Least Favorite thing: Getting presents.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

TentCamper says: Bali – in a beach shack

Dadshouse says: I'd split time between Manhattan NYC and a California beach.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Aruba

CanadianBaldGuy says:
In the same city as my girlfriend...wherever that may be.

Daddy Geek Boy says: It would be easy to say someplace tropical, but if I lived in paradise every day, where would I vacation? I love the Pacific Northwest. I also would love to return to the east coast some day.

Hubman says: After an entire lifetime in NY, NH, MA, and PA, I'd love a snow-free winter. Anywhere south of here would be nice.

Captain Dumbass Coruscant or Gotham City.

Southern Sage says: I could care less. I ain't gonna be cold. I want to live where smart people govern, the deer hunting is excellent and the chicks are hot. Other'n that IDGAF.

Trooper Thorn says: Under the shade of Famke Janssen.

Have you ever broken a bone? Passed out? Had major surgery?

TentCamper says: no broken bones. Passed out only from drinking. Never had any surgeries.

Dadshouse says: No broken bones. I passed out once during an eye exam. One of those things where they touch your eye to gauge something (now they use puffs of air). They needed smelling salts to wake me up! And yes, I've had major surgery.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Yes, many. The worst being my collar bone. Broke it in three places. Yes, due to former question. Yes, the vasectomy was life altering.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
Cracked my wrist once...had a cast for about a week. Nothing serious. I've passed out a few times, and they were NON-alcohol related, too.

Daddy Geek Boy
says: I have not broken a bone, though when I was a kid I really wanted to so that I could get a cast that everyone could sign. Major surgery? Deviated septum repair when I was 15. Lasic doesn't really count, does it? And of course the ol' snip-snip.

Hubman says: I've only had two broken bones- I took a baseball to the face when I was about 9 yrs old, breaking my nose (so much for player catcher without a mask!), and when I was 17 a friend dropped a 10 lb plate in the weight room, right onto my hand and breaking a finger. I've passed out drunk, but I don't think that was the intent of this question, so no. I had surgery to repair an inguinal hernia when I was 11 or so and have the ol' snip-snip.

Captain Dumbass I've broken my pinkie toes on multiple occasions and judging from the look of my nose, that too though I have no recollection of doing it. I've passed out from sticking a nine volt battery on my braces and when a high school friend wrapped a tea towel around my neck and twisted me over his shoulder. I remember waking up on the kitchen floor and looking up at a Heinz ketchup sticker someone had stuck to the bottom of the kitchen table. I also remember my mom being on the phone at the time and continuing her conversation.

Hmm. Time to call my therapist again.

Southern Sage says: Broke fingers and toes, passed out several times and no major surgery, all this goodness is real and unaltered!

Trooper Thorn says: Not since my ex found a new boyfriend/victim.

Do you parent like your own father? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

TentCamper says: No…not at all. My natural father left before I was born. My adoptive father was …pretty unreliable as a father. My stepfather was strict and a bit racist. I am easy going, but kids MUST follow rules. I play and roughhouse, but demand respect. I don’t miss sporting events, school functions or birthdays.

Dadshouse says: I parent totally differently than my dad. Like Jonathan Franzen suggested in his novel, The Corrections, each generation tries to correct the child-rearing mistakes of its parents. If you haven't read The Corrections, read it! It's funny.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Yes, it's a great thing.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
I sometimes parent like my father, but I try to only use the best qualities. Sometimes my temper will come out, but I try to quell that as soon as possible.

Daddy Geek Boy says: I think I'm carving out my own parenting style, but it's only a matter of time before I morph into my father.

Hubman says: In some ways I do, but my dad was an alcoholic (I say was because he's been dry for 16 yrs+ now) and while he often had nothing but the best intentions, sometimes the execution left a little to be desired. He let me down on numerous occasions and I hope never to do that to either of my kids.

Captain Dumbass I try not to and that should answer the second question.

Southern Sage says: I am tougher than my dad was but I do parent similar to him, and yes thats a good thing.

Trooper Thorn says: I wish I was a wise and patient as my Dad. I can never seem to get it right when I discipline and only seem to make the situation worse.

Why do you guys have so much trouble putting the damn seat/lid down?!

TentCamper says: You may not believe this but something must have happened to me at birth, but I can’t remember EVER leaving the toilet seat up. Ask Mariah if you don’t believe me…it is kind of freakish.

Dadshouse says: Because we need it up to pee. And if we can pee without touching the toilet, that's pretty darn awesome, don't you think?

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Why do you? Actually, in our house, both seat and lid are lowered. I have a fear of dropping things in the commode. Plus, the kids like to play in the water.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
It's a habit that one has to work out on their own. I leave my own seat down...but it's taken time to learn.

Daddy Geek Boy
says: In order to stop my cat from drinking out of the toilet, I put the toilet seat down. The behavior stuck. Yes, my cat trained me to put the lid down.

Hubman says: I don't have any trouble putting it down- Veronica has trained me well.

Captain Dumbass Why would any woman blindly sit down on the toilet without looking?

Southern Sage says: Why do you have such a problem putting it down? Down is easier than up, it will fall most of the way if you get it started, if its easy for us to put it down why is so damn tough for y'all? I mean I'd look before sat my butt is some water. I have never in 38 years sat without the lid being down, I dunno why its such a dilemma. Since I love me some women i decided I'd never forget to put the seat down, now I don't ever raise it, problem solved.

Trooper Thorn says: Why do women have such a hard time surveying where they sit with their pants down?

NotASoccerMom asked:
They say you can tell a lot about a man by his dream car...what is yours and why?

TentCamper says: I have 2 – and neither is too luxurious. The first is the GMC Youkon Denali XL. That is a sexy ass man-mobile!!! And the second is the late 60s Ford Bronco. It is just plain bad ass!!!!

Dadshouse says: A Bianchi Talladega. I ride it 4-5 days a week. Oh, you said car. Sorry. That's a bike.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: It changes weekly. Currently, the Audi S6. Good family hauler that really hauls.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
I'd just like mini-cooper. I really don't know why, but I've just always wanted one. Flashy cars or SUV's don't really do much for me. I'm more interested in how it makes ME feel instead of how others would perceive me in it.

Daddy Geek Boy
says: When I graduated college, I drove a cherry red Toyota Celica. A little cheesy? Yes. But I loved that car. It was totaled in an accident and I've never loved any car since.

Hubman says: Something sporty. Mini Coopers look fun, though at 6'2" I'm not sure how well I'd fit. I'd love something high performance, but that screams "mid-life crisis" a bit too loudly. Just for the fun of it, Veronica and I almost rented a Dodge Viper when we were in Las Vegas last month, but even the 5 hr rental was a little beyond our budget. We settled for a Mustang convertible...

Captain Dumbass The Bugatti Veyron. Why? Because I saw a test driver cry after driving one. I'm not joking. Or a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB.

Southern Sage says: F-250, 7.3 liter diesel. Thats the baddest bitch on the road. I own one. If I had to drive a car then a 67 mustang fastback or a 69 Camaro.

Trooper Thorn Dream car: Bumper. For a lack of consequences and accountability

So any of you have self image issues the older you get?

TentCamper says: occasionally. Mostly I ‘grow’ to love my aging and decrepit self. PLUS – Mariah has a thing for old men…so I guess I am kind of looking forward to getting there quickly.

Dadshouse says: Hell no! We're Hot Dads. The mirror has never looked better.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: I'm a SAHD, I'm pretty comfortable in my skin.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
I'm actually getting more comfortable with myself as I age. I was REALLY self-conscious as a younger man.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Aside from the beginnings of hair loss, I'm pretty happy with the way I'm aging.

Hubman says: Aside from the slightly receding hairline, nope, I'm pretty happy with how I look.

Captain Dumbass Er... maybe about this strange growth I have around my waistline. Also, ear hair. WTF? WHAT! THE! FUUUUUUUUCK?!?!?!

Southern Sage says: Not me. I think I am way better looking than I am. Don't believe me? Just ask me.

Trooper Thorn says: What to do you mean? Are we supposed to loose the ability to reflect in a mirror as we age?

Mostly for the single men... I feel as though my independence makes some men feel threatened... when I make my own repairs or chase off critters. Is this the case? Are men intimidated by independent and self sufficient women?

TentCamper says: When I got together with Mariah she was single and had 4 kids. She was and is one of the most independent and strong women that I’ve ever met. That is one of the things that I love about her. She does not need to be ‘taken care of’ she can handle herself in pretty much any situation…and in some situations she has bigger balls than I do.
BUT…a pushy, overbearing, hard-headed, bitch of a strong woman…I’d have to either run away or snip off my own balls and just hand em over.

Dadshouse says: Not at all. I'd love a woman to come change my oil.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: Quite the contrary, I'm turned on by them.

Daddy Geek Boy says: I'm not single, but I'm chiming in anyway. Hells to tha no! Independent women rock! How can I turn into the stereotypical suburban dad who can't do anything myself if I have a woman who can't do anything herself?

Hubman says: Hell no, I love an independent woman! That doesn't threaten me at all.

Captain Dumbass I'm not single, but any man who feels that way is stupid. Bring on the self sufficient and independent women. Especially if she's independently wealthy. My wife needs a better paying job so I can stay at home and be a kept man.

Southern Sage says: Not me. I'm for it. If you will make some repairs on my shit I'd like you even better and yeah honey I think I heard a noise go check that out wouldja.

Trooper Thorn says: Not at all. How much to you charge for your services?

Can I see all of the Hot Dads’ booties? I am a butt lover.

TentCamper says: Sure…just call my manager at (800) TNT-CMPR

Dadshouse says: Come join us for a eucalyptus steam bath at our next Hot Dads conference.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld
says: NO ANSWER

Daddy Geek Boy says: Sure.

CanadianBaldGuy says:
No. Butt thanks for asking.

Hubman says: Have you read my blog? The blog where I participate in Half-nekkid Thursday

Captain Dumbass I'll do it if the other guys do. And if I'm allowed a month or so to do some squats. Maybe a little jogging.

Southern Sage says: every single week? You really don't have to work too hard to find pictures of me bare-assed on the internet!

Trooper Thorn says: We are putting together a nationwide tour in 2011. Reserve your tickets now.

Big Zen Wannabe Wolf - Asks Hot Dads

I know that it is not Monday but I had some questions and thought I'd serve you all up a plate of daddy wisdom spew!!

*Make sure that you keep sending in all of your questions.

OneZenMom Asked: What personal trait of yours do you hope your kids will share? What trait do you hope they WON'T get from you?

TentCamper says: Besides my stunning good looks….I hope that they inherit my logic and calm demeanor. On the other hand…I pray that they do NOT overdo things the way I tend to.

Hubman says: I'm a hard worker, but I understand the importance of maintaining perspective and having fun every day. All work and no play, something like that, is an attitude towards life that I hope they share with me. On the flip side, I have a bit of a temper at times. While it's gotten better over the years, I hope that managing anger or frustration is something my kids do better than I do.

Captain Dumbass says: My sense of humor, or better yet, their own twisted version of mine.

DC Urban Dad says: Whew, that's an easy one. I wish her all her Mommy's traits and none of mine. Especially not my temper.

SurferJay says: I hope my kids love to surf as I do. Because if they would rather play something like, oh I don’t know, baseball, I would just die. For one thing, that sport is so boring, I don’t how I could ever sit through one of their little league games without falling asleep.

I hope my boy doesn’t inherit my fur. I have some good size fur coats on either side of my back. Now that I’m getting older at thirty, I’ve started to acquire the fur stragglers. You know, the individual hairs that sprout up all over the shoulders and upper back. And it’s a lot of work to pluck each one individually, and my wife will only bust out the buzzers for me on special occasions.

Dadshouse says: Hope they get: The ability to enjoy life without feeling the need to spend and consume. Hope they won't get: Keeping a messy kitchen table. (there are papers everywhere)

Canadian Bald Guy says: My fun-loving attitude. I do my best to be "the fun guy" and see the positive side of things, so I'm hoping they'll both get that trait from me.

When pushed I do have a bit of a temper, though. I'm really hoping that they don't get an attitude or anger issues from me.

Trooper Thorn says: a) I hope they become patient as adults; I can’t wait for that day. b) I’d prefer that they didn’t procrastinate the way I do, but they will likely leave that up to the last minute.

LiteralDan says: I hope they'll be able to laugh at most anything, especially stuff that sucks but can't be changed. Most of the traits I hope they don't get they're already clearly fated for, like the special brand of compulsive precision that earned me my nickname.

Daddy Geek Boy says: My kids are already showing a sense of humor similar to mine, so that said, I hope they develop the ability that I learned later in life, which is not to be so sensitive.

OneZenMom Asked: What TV show, or movie, are you embarrassed to admit you like to watch?

TentCamper says: ‘Spose I’ll have to say that I am embarrassed to admit that I cried during an episode of Quantum Leap…beyond that…I have no regrets!!

Hubman says: Occasionally, when Veronica is watching Project Runway I find myself getting sucked in and start paying attention. But if she catches me, I'll only admit to watching Heidi Klum, who is one delicious piece of eye candy!

Captain Dumbass says: I watch a pretty wide variety of TV and movies and can't say I'm really embarrassed by any of them. I loved the first few seasons of Gilmore Girls because the writing was fantastic and Lorelai Gilmore was HAWT so win/win. Where's the shame.

DC Urban Dad says: To tell you the truth, none. I am super confident in the crap I watch. Sure I watch a little Rachel Zoe on Bravo, have been known to watch some Pussycat Doll's search for the next girl.

SurferJay says: I would never admit to anyone but my wife, that I sobbed tears of sorrow while watching the movie, Lorenzo’s Oil. And that was before I even had kids.

Dadshouse says: Koyanisqatsi. (If you've heard the Philip Glass score, you'll know why.)

Canadian Bald Guy says: I have a LOT of "guilty pleasures". My biggest embarrassment would probably be my fandom for professional wrestling. Although it's been waning over the past year, I was such a "super-fan" for such a long time that my first online writing experience (for over four years) came writing for wrestling websites. I might watch an hour or two a month these days, but it used to be a five-hour-a-week addiction...and even at an hour or two, it's still embarrassing.

Trooper Thorn says: I will watch Desperate Housewives, but I complain bitterly (to whoever will listen) if the episode does not contain at lease three decent lingerie scenes with at least one gratuitous side-boob shot.

LiteralDan says: Probably Law and Order: SVU. Mostly I wouldn't readily admit it because I mock my wife for the inescapable pull the show has on her, no matter what else is going on when she happens to flip to it, new or in reruns. Nothing ruins a planned night of fun like a gripping tale of the police's efforts to apprehend a child rapist. Still, it's kind of a good show.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Believe it or not, I can't think of anything that I would be embarrassed if anyone knew I watched. For a while there, I really liked the movie 40 Days and 40 Nights. Having rewatched it, my initial enthusiasm for it has dampened. But I still like it.

OneZenMom asked: Name one blog - besides Hot Dads, your own, or your spouse's - that you read every day (or just most often).

TentCamperm says: Obviously….Manic Mariah MY WOMAN!!!!

Hubman says: I have a folder in Google Reader called "Friends", which contains about a dozen or so blogs, so I can't name just one.

Captain Dumbass says: Just one? Seriously? My list is long and distinguished (like my johnson. Oh! Thank you, Top Gun) so to avoid pissing anybody off I'll pick kottke.com.

DC Urban Dad says: I have quite a few actually. I can hardly name them all, it would take too long. But here is a super quick snapshot ---- Clark Kent's Lunchbox, Scary Mommy., Undomestic Diva, Luke I am Your Father.

SurferJay says: …(…nothing)

Dadshouse says: http://vinomom.wordpress.com/ (I could name a bunch - this is first in my blogroll, counting backwards)

Canadian Bald Guy says: I love The Quest for T. I may not leave as many comments as I used to, but she's one of the first I'll read (next to my girlfriend's) on a daily basis.

Trooper Thorn says: I always check out twodogsrunning.blogspot.com to hear what animals MamaDawg is rescuing today.

LiteralDan says: I misunderstood the question at first to be asking for a blog both my wife and I read, so I'll stick with my answer for that (since I read way too many blogs to pick one, anyway)-- Barefoot Foodie. Brittany is one of the original Hot Mamas here at Hot Dads, incidentally.

Daddy Geek Boy says: My blog roll has gotten out of control and I can't keep up. (Sorry if I've stopped commenting on yours, I'm working my way through them.) Some not mentioned above that I dig are you Zen Mom, Tales From the Dad Side, Sorry For the Convenience and oh yeah, This Is Why You're Fat.

OneZenMom Asked: How do you split holiday time between your family and your wife's family (or for the divorced guys, between your house and your ex's)?

TentCampersays: well…this is a confusing one when you put everything together as Mariah and I are both divorced. But if you have not been keeping up….I don’t get shit! YET! As for other family, mine are spread a;; over the country and it’s been a long time since we’ve all spent a holiday together, but luckily, Mariah’s family, though spread out, does everything in their power to be together for the big holidays. …makes me very happy…as I miss my own ‘pretend’ blood.

Hubman says: Veronica and I are in the Boston area, my mom is in Pittsburgh and the rest of our families are on Long Island, NY. Usually, Thanksgiving is at my in-laws house, though when we lived in PA there were years when we alternated between Pittsburgh and Long Island. Ever since Darling Boy was old enough to get into Christmas, we stay home. All of our immediate family has an open invitation to join us, but we are NOT traveling for Christmas.

Captain Dumbass says: My wife's family doesn't really do Christmas, but we try one year with them and the next with mine. Of course, the terrifying snowy mountain drives up to visit my family are beginning to lose their magic. We don't really get a lot of snow in Vancouver, but fuck it, rain isn't actively trying to kill you.

DC Urban Dad says: We alternate across both families. This Turkey Day we are with my family at the beach in NC. Then for Xmas we are with my wife's Mother and then will spend a few days with her father. Next year, we will change it up again. Luckily everyone is in NC so it is a bit easier.

SurferJay says: Have you ever heard that a good compromise leaves both parties unhappy? Well that’s how, we’re both unhappy about it, (some more than others, ahem).

Dadshouse says: I'm divorced, and every other year I get Xmas. On year's I don't get Xmas, I get Thanksgiving. The other holidays we play by ear, but we aim for 50/50.

As for splitting holidays within my family, we almost always go to my parents house. We've gone to my brothers' a few times. My place? Once. (The women plan these things months or years in advance, and I'm not a woman.)

Canadian Bald Guy says: As a dad with two children fathered by two different mothers, visitation during the year can be tricky (especially where one lives half-way across the country). 'Holidays' for me usually revolve around Christmas and birthdays. The attempt right now is to have my kids every other Christmas and birthday and rotate annually. So far, it's worked out quite well.

Trooper Thorn says: Time between houses just depends on which one of us my kids hate more at the holiday: me or my ex.

LiteralDan says: We spend most of the holidays with my family now that we live closer to them, though we used to spend the slight majority with her family when we lived closer to them. Now, we'll just fly back out there every other year or so for Christmas. (It's becoming clear they will never come out here, any time of the year.)

Daddy Geek Boy says: We laid out the rules from the very beginning to our parents: You will get us every other year. No exceptions. This is for Thanksgiving. We don't travel for Christmas.

OneZenMom Asked: How do you do your Christmas shopping - Do you plan ahead? Wait 'til the last minute? Shop throughout the year? Do it all in one day?

TentCamper says: I’d like to do it year round, but times I have done that, by the time X-mas rolls around, the gift will be ‘the older model’. I end up doing it last minute.

Hubman says: I really only have to shop for Veronica, she takes care of everyone else. She and I have already started talking about ideas for family members and it wouldn't surprise me if she's even bought a few things. She is so stinkin' efficient, when we drive to NY for Thanksgiving, Christmas gifts for family there are already bought, wrapped, and delivered to the respective homes to be opened on Christmas Day. I try to have my shopping done by mid-December. If there is something I hate more than shopping, it's fighting holiday crowds to shop.

Captain Dumbass says: If it's for the kids then I plan ahead. If it's for my wife I like to leave it until the last possible moment. There's nothing like blind panic for romantic inspiration.

DC Urban Dad says: We try to do as much online and early. Now that we are a little older we don't do Christmas for the adults. Now it is all about the kids. With my wife's family we draw names and are only allowed to spend $100. For my family, we are only giving presents to the kids.

SurferJay says: A-m-a-z-o-n-.-c-o-m. As long as my free three day shipping makes it into to unwrap Christmas morning, we’re all good.

Dadshouse says: Last minute, for sure!

Canadian Bald Guy says: I absolutely HATE that I wait 'til the last minute, but that's what I do. EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

Trooper Thorn says: I firmly believe stores don’t put the good stuff out until the afternoon of the 23rd. If you really care for people, why would you shop before then and purchase marginal gifts?

LiteralDan says: Every year I try to plan ahead, and every year I fail almost totally. I don't quite do it all in one day, though in the past I've nearly gotten to that point, but the last week or so is frantic, especially when shipping is involved. Thank Jebus for Amazon, I say.

Daddy Geek Boy says: I echo the praise for Amazon. If I never have to step foot in a store from now until January, I'll be happy.

BigLittleWolf asked: What would you do if you had a hot night out (and in) with a babe who spoke with a French accent, and in the a.m. over a steamy cup of coffee à deux, she dropped it, in a playful way? (The accent, not the coffee.)

TentCamper says: Not that I’ve been in a situation to go on a date with a random person in more than 15 years, but I don’t think it would bother me…unless I was really into the girl. If it was just a roll in the hay…act away!!!

Hubman says: Do you mean that she was faking the accent all night? I wouldn't really care, though I'm ambivalent about French accents anyway. Now an English or Australian accent, that's another story! Maybe she could try one of those next time?

Captain Dumbass says: Meh, whatever.

DC Urban Dad says: Did you say she was hot?

SurferJay says: I would make a confession to her as well, “yeah, you know how I told you I’ve only slept with 3 girls, well I feel guilty about lying to you so I must confess, it was really 23. More coffee?”

Dadshouse says: I'd laugh. Besides, I usually date women with south american accents.

Canadian Bald Guy says: I think I'd be pissed off. I'm not a fan of lying. And no, I'm no angel...but that's purposeful deception. If she was hot enough, I suppose I'd get over it quickly. But yeah...I'd be pissed at first.

Trooper Thorn says: I’d breathe a sigh of relief and take off the George Clooney mask. How the two of us would laugh…

LiteralDan says: I'd pay her a little more for the extra effort, of course. Actually, I'd probably be happier, because that means she smelled better AND she was less critical of my breakfast options.

Daddy Geek Boy says: As long as it wasn't replaced with a Long Island accent no worries.

BigLittleWolf asked: What's the sexiest, most unexpected sexual surprise you've ever encountered?

TentCamper says: My woman being ok with having sex with me and another woman…and what I talk about in this (explicit) post. Just being with Mariah is all the sexy I need.

Hubman says: It's a story that's perhaps a bit explicit for this blog. But I've written about it on my blog! Click here for the story.

Captain Dumbass says: Getting laid in a racquetball court. That was unexpected. And it sounded a lot like whales humping. Not that I've ever heard whales humping, but if you've ever been in a racquetball court I think you'll know what I'm talking about.

DC Urban Dad says: Love being woken up in the middle of the night and "connecting".

SurferJay says: …(failed to fire)

Dadshouse says: When a woman did a certain act without me asking, and without her first demanding to be serviced. As for which act, that differed for each woman who did this sort of thing. Sadly, there weren't many. Most woman either had to be coaxed, or insisted on being serviced first.

Canadian Bald Guy says: The greatest sexual experiences of my entire life have happened over the past year with my current girlfriend. She reads this blog, so forgive me for not divulging details.

Trooper Thorn says: The first time I ever got laid. I mean, who saw that one coming?

LiteralDan says: I guess, if pressed, I'd have to pick that one time when Rachel Weisz showed up at my door late one night, saying she had an unexpectedly long layover and wondered if I could help her pass the time.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Not sure WonderWife™ would be comfortable with me putting that out there. But I have a big grin on my face right now.

WannabeVirginia W. asked: When a woman looses weight does her vajayjay get smaller, in particular the bits (parts)?

TentCamper says: WHAT THE…???? If there was a Slim Fast for women’s privates and you could diet to make it tighter or bring it back to what it was in High School….that shit would be flying off the shelves and the person who developed it would have won like 45 Nobel Peace Prizes or something.

Does that answer it for you?

Hubman says: I've never heard of that before and have no idea. Veronica's big changes in weight have come with pregnancy, the end of which of course has it's own effects on the almighty vajayjay, so I have no experience to draw on. But why would it?

Captain Dumbass says: I've never actually been a woman or had a vajayjay so I can't answer that definitively, but I think it might be wishful thinking.

DC Urban Dad says: Good question. Odd, but good.

SurferJay says: …(plead the fifth)

Dadshouse says: I honestly don't date women whose weight fluctuates that much for me to notice.

Canadian Bald Guy says: I've got no fucking idea.

Trooper Thorn says: It doesn’t necessarily get smaller, but it does get tighter because she feels better about herself. Know what I’m talking about?

LiteralDan says: These are the kind of questions you just can't make up... I have no idea, but I'd doubt it. I think the only thing that could manage that would be a time machine! Where's Doc Brown when you need him?

Daddy Geek Boy says: I'm not a doctor, but I'd be happy to study photographic evidence to either support or disprove a theory.

Ask Hot Dads - Wisdom at its finest

ManicMariah asked: "Do you Hot Dads think that online flirting with strangers (Twitter, comments, etc) boosts you ego in a way that is positive or negative way in your real life relationship?

TentCamper says: I don’t know. I suppose it could go either way. I guess that some meaningless flirting can be ok. (in attempts to get more followers and such…as long as the flirting is not genuine.) But then again. One has to take into consideration their spouse. Do they read what you write? Are they secure with how you feel about them? Are they the jealous type? Etc. Keep it to a minimum and keep it in check.

DadsHouse says: It can definitely be an ego boost. Is it healthy? Um.... NO! Come on, guys, Man up, and feel good about yourselves for the right reasons. Not because some hottie flirted on your blog. Find a young Starbucks barista to make eyes with! (Haha.)

CoachDad says: I don't really think it has a negative or positive effect with my relationship. I only correspond with two people that I have met through blogging or twittering and don't really consider it flirting. I enjoy emailing them or IMing them and we usually just talk about our day, kids, or relationships. I value the conversations I have with them, but would also not hide them from my girlfriend.

DaddyGeekBoy says: Any flirting can be an ego boost. But what you do with that boost is what makes it positive or negative. How does the flirting affect your real life relationships? While I have strong online friendships with people, I tend not to flirt with them (except for Tent Camper, cause he’s hawt!). So this is a tough one for me to answer.

Hubman says: While Veronica and I both flirt quite a bit [kinda comes with the lifestyle], I don't know that it's an ego boost. I suppose that having my flirtatious comments returned in a positive way could be good for my self esteem. I know that participating in HNT had a very positive effect for Veronica. So I guess that yes, online flirting has been something positive for Veronica and I!

Southern Sage says: Well I have no personal experience with this because I would never flirt. If I were to guess though I would think it was a positive thing.

What are your thoughts on having a stay at home parent as opposed to sending your kids to day care? (and what is done in your house?)

TentCamper says: I think that having a stay at home parent is by far the best for the kids. Personally, I would not want someone else raising and teaching my kids about life. I want that job to be done by a parent. I do though, think that it is very important to ensure the kids get a great deal of socialization and not just with your friend’s kids…They need to learn how to cope and deal with other kids with differing attitudes and behaviors.

DadsHouse says Day care rocks! It's great for the kids. Both of mine went through day care, and they are both socially savvy. That said, I work from home now, and I LOVE being here when my kids (teens now) get home after school. They talk to me like crazy in that short window between getting home and eating a snack (fourth meal) and starting their homework. After that, they have already processed their day and aren't as chatty. The parent child relationship is much importante! Check out the book, Parenting is a contact sport.

CoachDad says: As a single dad, I don't have an option. Ideally, a stay-at-home parent would be better for me and my children. However, as a head high school football coach, my girls love coming to my practices right after they are out of school and hanging out with me for a few hours on the football field.

DaddyGeekBoy says: I’m for whatever works best for that particular family. I have great respect for the stay at home parent and as a member of the work force, I also understand how challenging a full time job can be. There is no right or wrong. Except if it involves me being a stay at home parent…cause I would go insane!

Hubman says: Oh boy....

Inspired by my fellow Hot Dad Sage, my lovely wife wrote 2 posts on this topic a few months ago. Rather than try to restate what she said, and since she and I agree 100% on the matter, why don't you just click here and here to read what she had to say?

Southern Sage says: Are you trying to get me in trouble again? My bride stays home. I would have it no other way. There is no question a parent can raise their own kid better than others can, therefore the kid(s) will be better off if a parent does the bulk of the raising and supervising. I always do what is in the best interest of my kids.

Do you watch porn? And if so, primarily alone or with your partner?

TentCamper says: I’m ok with porn. I kind of like to watch with Mariah here and there…but it has to be as a form of foreplay. I will also state that I’d sign a petition to remove all sound tracks from porn. The music sucks, the lines are stupid and the plots are ridiculous. I don’t watch for anything but the view. OH ... and will you producers try to keep the actress pool at least appealing? Not too into watching middle aged trailer park sluts trying to act all sexy…it does not work.

DadsHouse says: I don't watch it. I'd rather get it on in real life with a real woman.

CoachDad says: I don't watch porn, but fantasize quite often about it. Don't seem to find the time to throw it on at home. When I find time at home for myself when the girls are finally asleep, I'd rather just do it with my partner.

DaddyGeekBoy says:Yes, I watch porn. I like porn. Thankfully we live in such a glorious technologically advanced age where it’s plentiful and easy to obtain. And I watch it alone.

Hubman says: Not really, believe it or not. I do browse an occasional website or two, but I rarely watch porn videos.

Southern Sage says: Again I have no personal experience here but if I did I would say alone.

Anonymous asked: Overall what do you think the (physically) most attractive race is for a woman?

TentCamper says: Wow…hard question. I’ll have to say that women raised in Santa Monica, CA are the Hottest. (you’re welcome baby!) But as a close second, I’d have to say South American and/or Northern Europe (i.e. Denmark, Sweden…Scandinavian)

DadsHouse says: Latina. Though I'm sometimes attracted to Indian, Persian, Mediterranean... dark hair, olive skin, slim waist, wide hips, nice butt...

CoachDad says: I am non-discriminatory when it comes to women... Any beautiful women physically or personality-wise will do.

DaddyGeekBoy says: I’m going to take this question to mean ethnicity rather than race. I think Indian women are some of the most beautiful women out there. But they’re right up there with Latin and Scandinavian.

Hubman says: Are you serious, Anonymous? Women of all races are attractive!

Southern Sage says: Hmmmm well that’s surely the first time I have ever seen this question asked anywhere. I would say oriental if forced to choose, though I never culled on account of race.

If you could magically change one part of your body, what would it be and why?

TentCamper says: DEFINITELY NOT MY MANHOOD! (shit that is one power tool that any mechanic would die for). That being said….I’d go with my chest and shoulders. ( I could stand to work out a bit more).

DadsHouse says: Wait a sec - are you trying to sell us some elongating device? Because that is NOT a part of my body I have any intention of changing. I get rave reviews already. (Gotta love a blog that lets you brag about your manhood. I mean, who's gonna check!?)

One part of my body... the big toenail on my right foot. It's funky.

CoachDad says: My abs... Doesn't matter how much I do, I am always five beers short of a six-pack.

DaddyGeekBoy says: I wouldn’t mind toning down the body fuzz a bit.

Hubman says: Goodbye spare tire, hello six-pack!!! Because it's the one part of my body I really don't like. Well, that and my receding and thinning hairline.

Southern Sage says: I would have all the hair removed from everywhere I shave it, face, head, boys.

Ask Hot Dads - The saga continues...

TentCamper I Pee in the Wind

Happy Monday everyone!!!!! I hope that the weekend treated you well.

Please sit down and prepare yourself for this, the next exciting edition of Ask Hot Dads. Our wisdom is MIND-BLOWING!!!!

Barefoot Dreamer asked: I leave for Vegas in three weeks. I will be gone for five nights. I want to leave my house and my husband in a good place. Any advice from the guys as to how a wife can leave on an extended trip and leave their guys mind, house, kids in a good place before they go? (side note: my hubby is fully capable of tending to the children when I am away. things like cooking etc are not an issue)

TentCamper says: I am getting that you know your man can hold down the fort…and what you are getting at is how can you make him feel comfortable with you in Vegas for a week without him or the kids. Dunno. I guess I would say that leading up to your sendoff date…make him really happy and reinforce that you love him and how glad you are that you have him. He’d love hearing that. In addition, I would say that checking in with him a time or two each day would be good…spose it would depend on how jealous a guy he is.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Even though your guy can cook, stashing a lasagna in the fridge or freezer is a good idea. Let's him and the kids know you're thinking about them. Clean up your stuff around the house. And most importantly, make sure you rock his world the night before you leave. All that follows will be okay.

Southern Sage says: I got nuttin except you could make meals like lasagna or spaghetti, chili stuff they could eat more'n once, also you could set up the clothes for the kids, like hng em in order or something.

DadsHouse says: As a single dad, I'm not sure what you're asking. I run my household just fine by myself. Sounds like your hubby can cook. What's the issue?

As for leaving your hubby in a good place - have tons of raucous sex with him before you go.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Vegas makes it tough, but so long as your relationship is solid there is nothing to worry about. He'll just be ticked that you are having fun without him.

Hubman says: Let’s see, peace of mind if Veronica was going to Vegas without me(Keep in mind that I’m drafting this while she and I are flying to Vegas!)…

It’s not often that she travels without me, but when she does, all I ask is that she calls me when she reaches her destination and calls once a day to say hi to the kids and let me know she’s doing well. Knowing my wife and suspecting what might happen if she were to go to Vegas without me, I want pictures ;-)

As far as the house and kids go, I’d be fine. In fact, I get mildly irritated when she takes extra steps to make things “easier” for me. 2 or 3 times a month, Veronica has an evening committee meeting at work, so she doesn’t come home for dinner on those nights and I’m “Mr. Mom”. A quick and easy dinner I’ll make for me and the kids is hot dogs with macaroni and cheese.

Veronica, my love, it’s really not necessary to take the pots out of the cabinet, leave the rolls on the counter to defrost and leave the box of mac and cheese on the counter. I realize that you have a propensity to not put stuff back in the same place each time you use it, but I’m pretty sure I can find my way around the kitchen. Okay? Thanks.

Trooper Thorn says: Do not expect your husband to do things the way you want them just "he should know". It is best to be specific to not be disappointed. Leave a list of things you want clean (or at least tidied) before you return and possibly a grocery list of stuff to restock. Most importantly: Don't come home early without a decent heads up. Most husbands will leave all the cleaning until the last moment (and I mean the moment you pull into the driveway) so they don't have to do it twice.

Veronica asks: What is the one piece of advice you would give your son about women or your daughter about men?

TentCamper says: to son – be honest, don’t commit until you’ve experienced everything that you think you can. Women/girls play games and change their minds …A LOT! To daughter – don’t trust boys….ever! They might act nice, but they all want one thing. Treat them right and be honest…no stringing folks along.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Never trust a teenage man. Everything he says, no matter how innocuous it seems, is designed to get into your pants. They can't help it. Hormones are a powerful thing.

Southern Sage says: Men suck, never depend on them for anything. be able to support yourself, but if you decide to be a bride then be able and wiling to tend your husband and family, have the abilities that raise your stock as woman.

Son, you suck, choose bride that understands your needs as a man and choose wisely, your kids will be 1/2 her, and she will look like her mom in a few years. Get one to good to cheat on.

DadsHouse says: To my son: treat women with respect and tenderness. To my daughter: men have fragile egos.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Son about women: Treat them as equals. Daughter about men: Trust your gut. If he seems shifty, he probably is.

Hubman says: One piece of advice about the opposite sex? Oh good lord, I have no idea. How about "You'll never really understand the opposite sex, so don't try too hard, because it's an exercise in futility."

Trooper Thorn says: "Son, all women are crazy; just make she she's not dangerous." "Daughter, men are pigs. That is all."

2. For once and for all, Ginger or Maryanne?

TentCamper says: Maryanne all the way. Ginger is a needy bitch who ‘thinks’ she is ‘all that!’

Daddy Geek Boy says: Living in LA, I've had some run ins with movie stars. So without question, Maryanne.

Southern Sage says: Maryanne

DadsHouse says: A threesome with both.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Maryanne

Hubman says: Ginger, ‘cause I’ve never been with a redhead.

Trooper Thorn says: Mrs. Howell

3. What infomercial product have you been tempted to buy?

TentCamper says: the Hoverround. I called one night (after a few beers) and now they keep sending me shit. How nice would it be to cruise amusement parks and soccer games in one of those bad boys?

Daddy Geek Boy says: Believe it or not, I kind of want a snuggie. Though I haven't figured out if it's to be ironic or not.

Southern Sage says: none I m aware of, I don't make decisions on impulse.

DadsHouse says: That one about making me a millionaire while I sit on my ass at home!

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: The brownie pan

Hubman says: Who is that annoying fucktard who pimps that magic towel, the Sham-wow? The first time I stumbled across that, I almost ordered one. But then one of few functioning brain cells I have came to life and I moved on…

Trooper Thorn says: The SlapChop, but only the receive The Gratee. If I had a Gratee, I'd have cheese on everything.

4. Please explain the appeal of either "Ice Road Truckers" or "Deadliest Catch"

TentCamper says: Never seen Ice Road Truckers…but Deadliest Catch is a ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ show. I don’t know how to explain it …but I guarantee that if you sit down and (really) watch 1 full episode…you’ll be hooked. Mariah watches with me all the time!

Daddy Geek Boy says: Easy. Men. Machines. Fish.

Southern Sage says: I haven't clue what these are.

DadsHouse says: Yes, please do. Neither sound appealing to me.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Being stuck inside with florescent light makes us long for out door jobs.

Hubman says: I’ve only watched an episode or two of “Ice Road Truckers” and have trouble watching it. Not because it’s not compelling TV or anything like that, but because one of the ways I’m truly afraid of dying is by drowning AND I’m a pussy about being cold. So combine guys driving heavy, really heavy trucks over frozen lakes above the Arctic Circle and the heebie-jeebie factor is too great for me.

But oddly enough, even though it also involves cold and water, I really like “Deadliest Catch”. I’ve been watching it since season 2 and have grown attached to the characters and their struggles to earn a living in brutal conditions.

Trooper Thorn says: I haven't seen either. I'm holding out for "Deadliest Truckers".

5. What is the best part of a lap dance?

TentCamper says: I never really could figure out what the attraction is. I know that between the mindset of the strippers (take your money) and the rules of the clubs (no touching) then what’s the freaking point. On the other hand…a lap dance in the bedroom with my woman …I GET that!!!!

Daddy Geek Boy says: Every part right up until the moment when you have to hand over the $20.

Southern Sage says: Never did much for me, nor do titty bars or strippers in general. If it turns her on to do then I'm in, whtever turns her on, short sct & blood letting, I'm for it.

DadsHouse says: The look in her eye, or the view of her rear. I can't pick just one. (I don't go to strip clubs, so I only get lap dances from girlfriends, and it tends to only happen in an older men younger women relationship. Go figure.)

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: The very beginning.

Hubman says: Oh Veronica, the best part of a lap dance is watching YOU get one, especially from a girl who isn’t shy about a little extra contact. Remember Hunter? Or Samantha? What can I say, I’d rather watch you get a dance than get one myself. Well, unless Dakota is involved, but that’s another story ;-)

Trooper Thorn says: When I can get up off the guy and go home.

6. What was your favorite book as a kid?

TentCamper says: Where the Wild Things

Daddy Geek Boy says: Superfudge

Southern Sage says: Where the red fern grows.

DadsHouse says: Bambi. I'm not kidding. It's the first book I stayed up all night reading. Really good stuff. Bambi was a guy, btw. He gets some big cajones sized antlers when he's all grown up

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Was and still is Watership Down.

Hubman says: In junior high school I discovered Stephen King and over the next several years read everything he wrote. I couldn’t tell you which of his books was my favorite, maybe The Stand? As a younger child, I have no idea...

Trooper Thorn says: "Charlottes Web" but only the parts with Lurvey in it.

7. Who was your childhood hero? What do you think of that person as an adult?

TentCamper says: Shit! Ok…my childhood hero was OJ Simpson. I had his jersey and was all about OJ. What I think of that murdering, fucked up liar now? …I think I shouldn’t say.

Daddy Geek Boy says: I was way into Billy Joel, but I don't think I would consider him my "hero." Kind of sad how he's become one of those aging guys who isn't doing it that gracefully.

Southern Sage says: My dad, he got better the older I got.

DadsHouse says: Superman. He still rocks.

DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Bill Bradly. I don't care for his political slant, but he went to Princeton, played in the NBA (quite well), then became a politician. That is a full life.

Hubman says: I’ve never been one for heroes. I looked up to athletes a lot, and still admire their dedication, training, and physical prowess, but heroes? That is a term that is really overused in our society. Pat Tillmen was a hero not because of his abilities on the football field, but because he walked away from a multi-million dollar NFL contract to serve his country as an Army Ranger, eventually losing his life in Afghanistan.

Trooper Thorn says: Batman. He still rules.

8. Describe the perfect man cave?

TentCamper says: It would definitely include; Sam Adams on tap, plasma TVs, high tech computers, NFL ticker with highlights from all of the games, whole house (and neighborhood) surveillance systems, hula girls as servants and state of the art soundproofing. …but I really haven’t given it much thought, so…I don’t know.

Daddy Geek Boy says: Gotta be classy. Gotta be high tech. 52" (or bigger) HD flatscreen. Blu Ray. Theater seats. Small bar (kegerator). Video game systems. Awsome sound system. And a disco ball....just cause.

Southern Sage says: Beer, poker, political discussions, or 12 chicks, 2 gallons of 40 weight, #3 wash tub full of lime jello, & 6 pounds of cool whoop.

DadsHouse says: It has a woman in it. (I know, that doesn't fit the definition of man cave. But as a single dad, a woman is the one thing my man cave lacks!)< DadsWhoMockTheWorld says: Wall for projecting game/movie/video game/etc two rows of stadium seating. Pool table/game room with wet bar and full kitchen. Full bath off to the side. This opens on to a porch with hot tub and outdoor kitchen and fireplace. (After all that, all I'm missing is the bedroom...)

Hubman says: A true man-cave is away from the hustle and bustle of the house, where I’m not easily distracted by Veronica or the kids. So I imagine a man-loft instead, my own little kingdom above the detached 2-car garage I dream of (damn New England winters…). A couple of comfy chairs and a couch, big flat screen TV, internet access, a fridge stocked with beer and in the fall, NFL Sunday Ticket.

And I’d grant Veronica (or select friends) access for the purpose of sexual favors. At half-time, of course.

Trooper Thorn says: Unfrozen Cave Lawyer (http://ca.video.yahoo.com/watch/3388136/9476695)
