I thought I'd just quickly share today a frighteningly foreshadowing conversation that took place recently between my wife J- and my 2-year-old daughter M-:
M- (having built a few short stacks of Duplos on the table): Look Momma, this is a family!
J- (laying on the usual patronizing Parent voice): Oh, that's a verrry nice family.
M- (like all women*, craving drama): And this one is nasty.
J-: Oh, he shouldn't be nasty, he should be nice.
M- (dismissively): He can't help it, him's just nasty.
* Disclaimer: When I say "all women", I am of course merely employing a rhetorical flourish, instead of specifically stating the reality, which is that every single woman in the history of time lives and breathes through the creation, enhancement, or management of drama.

Oh, the candidness of kids that age, is so much fun. They have their own bubbly, I just enjoy being able to laugh at it. Sometimes you just got to hope that they keep it up and shine.
Life for men would seriously be so boring without the drama us women creat. Right?

I don't live for drama. I avoid it. My brother on the other hand must have picked up the gene since I let it go. He starts and gets involved with so much drama we call him Drama King, lol.
The conversation made me chuckle though. Kids are cute.
hhhhhmmmmmm maybe the "him" was a brother? Couldn't have been the dad - right?
I do have to say that I am one of the few women in my circle of associates that defends and tries my hardest to "be nice" and understanding toward men and their role in life. I hope to pass this on to my daughter too - since I didn't get it from my mom - if ya know what I mean!

Dad. You know sometimes they ARE nasty.
Oh, wow, you are inviting trouble. All of us women are now collectively angry with you. We have secret group meetings and plan it out, determine the reaction of men, pound them down, and then get back to the kitchen. It's exhausting. You knew about the meetings, right? Oh, wait, men never pay attention to what women do. They just sit on the couch watching sports, demand their beer and burp.

Yeah cause I've never had a man create drama in my life. Hmmm....
I think we all can be just a wee bit dramatic.
But I'm not being dramatic when I'm saying that.
Oh, come on, I think we can all agree to agree that almost every single woman on Earth has drama coursing through her veins at all times, and she has to vent it regularly or she'll swell up and explode.
That's not so far-fetched or ridiculous now, is it?
And note, I amended it to say "almost". So I'm basically a saint.
At least she's sympathetic to his lack of control over the situation?
Why do we women love drama??? I try not to...but I watch America's Next Top Model so I must like it. Hmmmm....very thought provoking! ;)

My 4 yr old daughter sucked it outta me.
But SHE on the other hand has drawn that same scenario on a piece of paper, hung it on the fridge, and put horns and fire coming out of the "daddy"......and flowers around us....

but I do understand where you are coming from. but we have to deal with some dramatic moments that few men embark on...but I wont go there.

Thanks, we'll definitely need it. She has a supercomputer for a brain, already defying us and talking back at a 4-year-old level.
I fear that she may complicate her own world even more than I ever did.
I'm thinking I'll need to make a cardboard cutout of myself to set up for her to yell at and hate when she's a teenager, cause I won't be able to handle the madness by that point.
