March Madness

This evening we decided to order pizza for dinner and are watching Pardon The Interruption while we eat.

[Quick aside: At 5:30 I can say to Darling Boy "It's Mike and Tony time!" and he knows to change to channel to ESPN. He's well trained!]

But then during the show DB remarks "What's March Madness?"

Excuse me? What's March Madness? Young man, I should...

Oh, wait, never mind. It dawns on me that it's MY responsibility to teach him about all things sports. And I have failed, failed! in that responsibility if he doesn't know what March Madness is. He picks NFL games with us, loves Penn State athletics (my alma mater...) and is not afraid to admit to being a Yankees fan in the heart of Red Sox Nation. But to not know what March Madness is? Unforgivable!

[Every year Veronica and I print out our brackets and go head-to-head. The stakes? Sexual favors, of course!!]

This year DB will be joining us in picking brackets. Though if his tendency when it comes to picking NFL games continues, she and I won't have to worry about him beating either of us. He generally goes with which ever team name sounds tougher or meaner. Hence, the Dolphins will never win and the Lions will never loss. Yeah, I know, let's not go there....

Of course, given how little Veronica knows about college basketball and she bases her picks on which school she would rather go to, I guess I shouldn't be complaining!

He and I have some serious man-time ahead of us.

Selection Sunday is March 15th and the first round, excluding the 1 game play-in for the 64th seed, starts March 19th, in case you didn't already know...

March Madness season....I love it.

I hope that the prizes in the brackets change this year...with DB playing in all. Don't know that he is ready for all that yet.

As for picking teams... durring NFL season...Mariah always picks the team with the bird mascot. WTF?

Unless MY Giants are playing...then she has NO CHOICE!

Love March Madness. I don't follow the teams at all up until that point but I get VERY serious about tracking my brackets! Thankfully I sit near a couple of guys at work so we can all chat about it. They probably find me amusing. :)

You mean one shouldn't pick according to their favorite uniform colors, or which guys look great with AND without helmets? Strangely my strategy usually works ;)j/k

I know, work for me in March is at its busiest time and I still can't resist filling out a bracket or two on line. I don't watch many of the games, but I do hit ESPN a little more often during the tourney to see how my horses are runnin'.

Now, if my Aggies get in there this year, my TV will be on them until they lose or hell freezes over. (Even as an Aggie fan, I can't foresee any way they win it all.

So, what's March Madness?

Ok, just kidding. Even I, who live under a rock, know what it means.

March Madness is about the only time I even like basketball. It's the excitement I suppose. I have no idea who's good or bad but I always cheer for Gonzaga. Gotta go with my hometown team!

March Madness rocks.

I'm trying to teach my son how to appreciate the sporting life. But he plays lacrosse, and doesn't care about football, soccer, or any other sport I watch.

So I subscribed to ESPN-U, and now we can sit and watch college lacrosse together. Love it.

March Madness rocks. Too bad it collides horribly with my hockey playoffs. It's so tough being a diehard Stars fan and a big basketball fan as well. *grin*

March Madness. That's for shopping right? Or is that the morning after St. Paddy's day when you wake up and find a nekked leprachaun in your bed.
